Bioforms are life, they represent life, parts, unities, structures of
living entities. Their depiction is far than easy; however, when it happens,
these forms act as robust reminder of every element that nature and human
beings, as part of it, bring, keep and develop ‘inside’.
Internal structures of organic systems, cell maps, DNA spirals, fertility
units develop a direct dialogue with cosmic motifs, the macrocosm of the
planets and universal laws alike. Visual artists experience transactions
with bioforms regularly, directly or obliquely, during their aesthetic
and conceptual journeys. Genuine, clear, charming, probably unexpected
connections between the small and the large, the micro and the macro,
have being developed, which often are neglected or forgotten in our days.
We, the viewers, are invited to this reminder, in order to reconsider
and re-view the elements we keep inside us, the forms of (our) life, our
unit in the entirety.
The artists’ starting points in the Bioforms2 exhibition vary. Spirals,
caducea, maps-rhizomes, reflections of quotidian moments, symbols of life
periods, architectural discourses, spherical entities, writing(s)-stitches
among others develop ‘bioformically’ through delicate works
in paper or fabric, prints, projections, constructions, installations,
performance.
The Bioforms2 exhibition constitutes the continuation of the exhibition
Works-Drawings, Works-Bioforms (May 2006, Athens). In the Bioforms2 exhibition
artists from Greece converse with artists from Austria within a moment
in the life of this universal subject.

On the opening night: performance by Christian Rupp and inauguration of
Gustav Böhm’ s work in-progress
Students from the Fine Arts School of Athens and institutes of vocational
education, as well as high school and primary school groups visited the
exhibition and participated in educational programmes, conceived and animated
by the curator.
In special evenings, announced by the press, artists talked in the exhibition
space on their ‘bioformic’ participation and the main strands
of their work in general. Furthermore, scientists and university researchers
passed to the audience particular visual arts glances on scientific data,
creating therefore strong and special biomorphic itineraries within an
art-science dialogue.
At the finissage night, on the 27th of June 2007, Ianthi Aggelioglou lead
a visual arts performance, involving directly the people/visitors in her
‘thread-identity connections’, at the terrace of the Cheapart
space. In the same evening, Efi Fouriki offered us experimentations and
‘reflections’ with materials at first hand.
